Antihypertensive drug prescription trends in Shahrekord, Iran

Introduction: Hypertension is one of the most leading causes death worldwide. It an important risk factor for ischemic heart disease (IHD), chronic kidney (CKD) and cerebrovascular diseases. Objectives: The aim study was evaluation status blood pressure control trends in prescribed antihypertensive medication usage among hypertensive patients Shahrekord, Iran. Patients Methods: In a cross-sectional descriptive 250 were enrolled. evaluated based on (BP) prescription efficacy drugs. data also subgroups diabetics or non-diabetics, smokers non-smokers, with without CKD, IHD. Results: A total (149 women 101 men) enrolled this study. mean age participants 66.22±13.58 years. Mean systolic diastolic BP 143.4±29.4 mm Hg 85.8±12.5 respectively. Poor controlled seen 106 patients. more common drugs angiotensin receptor blockers (46%), diuretics (33.6%) beta-blockers (32.8%). Conclusion: showed that had poor physicians increasingly prescribe blockers.
